Lovely bonus. What the hell am I agreeing to?

Before I start mentally spending a welcome offer, I want to do the math. Yes, actual math. The sort that ruins the mood when a very large number turns out to have a very small asterisk attached to it.

Thirty times what, exactly?

Let's invent a $100 deposit and a $100 bonus. If the requirement is 30 times the bonus, that's $3,000 in qualifying wagers. If it's 30 times the deposit plus the bonus, that's $6,000. Same deposit. Twice the wagering.

Those numbers are an example, not an offer from a casino. Wagering means the total amount staked. It doesn't tell you how much you'll lose, and finishing the requirement doesn't guarantee there's any money left.

Keep reading. There's more.

  • Which games count? Check the contribution percentage. A game counting at 10% contributes $1 toward the requirement for every $10 wagered.
  • How much can I bet? Find the maximum allowed while the bonus is active and what the terms say happens if you exceed it.
  • When does it expire? Get the actual deadline. If meeting it means playing longer or spending more than you intended, leave the offer alone.
  • How much can I take out? A maximum cashout can matter more than the number on the banner.
  • What happens if I cancel? Read what happens to the bonus, winnings, and your own deposit before clicking anything.
  • Am I eligible? Check country, payment-method, and account restrictions for that specific offer.

After that, I can decide whether I want the thing. Declining a bonus is an option. Nobody needs to accept a pile of conditions just because somebody has put confetti around it.
